The Material Girl. I wish Jim had worked with Madonna. What bigger name could there be? I remember the rumors of an album together years ago. Knowing what we know now, I wonder if Jim’s health squashed that? I remember Jim posting about her on his Facebook and requesting that she record one song in particular, Safe Sex. I wish she had. I imagine it being amazing.

Now there are a few variables here. Madonna would’ve been old at this point. I have no idea if an audience wants to really hear an older person singing about sex but it’s Madonna.

The other item is the production. I’m guessing Jim would’ve just sent her the same production tape used on the Pandora’s Box version. This is what supposedly killed the deal with Whitney Houston expressing interest in recording this song so many years ago. I would hope it would’ve been an updated production to make it sound somewhat current. I still think Safe Sex recorded properly is a hit waiting to happen and it would’ve been great with Madonna.

The other artist I wish Jim has worked with ..... more is Meat Loaf. It took far too long for the two of them to get together. They both are incredible individually, however, when together it was like capturing lighting in a bottle. Something just clicked. They brought out the best in each other. I sometimes wonder if Jim occasionally found himself living vicariously through Meat. It’s certainly understandable as well, as Meat has a larger than life presence. I really wish they had, at the very least, done a proper Bat III. It’s a shame.
