Jim's version. It conveys the darkness best. Ive touched on this in another thread but to me the song feels like the second act of a play or the second film in a trilogy. Its dark,it has our heroes at their lowest in that little room, then comes their redemption with the dawn and the new day in the form of Rock and roll dreams. Meatloaf when he did it live with the chair and lamp on stage was heading the right way to how i see the song. Barbs does a good job but i dont feel the bleakness of the song in her version Much like barry manilow and his cover of Read em and weep. He sings it fine, but i dont buy the heartache he is meant to be feeling > who sings the best cover of left in the dark | |
