I agree entirely. I think I should listen to "The Stranger" now. Phil Ramone came along at the perfect point in Billy Joel's career. Billy had wanted to make an album with his live band that would sound like the live band on his shows, and actually he walked away from Sir George Martin who would have produced the album but he wanted to record it with studio musicians, and that's not what Billy wanted. Then along came Phil. Also, I think at that point the record company were growing a little wary of Billy. Then "The Stranger" was released and things changed. Then Phil produced everything from "52nd Street" to "The Bridge". "Storm Front" was a departure not only from Phil but from many members of the band. "Storm Front" was done with Mick Jones from Foreigner instead. "River of dreams" also had different producers, which is why I don't think that's the reason I don't really like "Storm Front" all that much, because I love "River of Dreams". "Storm Front" just isn't something I can listen to all the way through, but it does have its moments.
