Jim and Jimmy Iovine did do much of the production except for the vocals by Meat. Jim made the very real effort to make it sound like nothing on BAT or BFG. I don't think he wanted it to compete with BFG and those production values.
There is a lot more of Jim on Deadringer than people realize.
