I must respectfully disagree. I liked this version fine the first time I heard it, but after listening a few times the flaws kept showing themselves to me.

One, I don't know if "orchestral" is really the right descriptor. It sounds completely synth and programmed to me. But, okay, it's supposed to sound orchestral because that's how they do it these days.

Two, the lady vocalist-- actually, I'm going to make a generalization about all the female singers on the new album (other than Ellen and Karla, who both sound amazing, just as good as they did 30 years ago, I remain in love with them both). All the new duetists have powerful voices with wide ranges. However, it seems to me that over the last 15 years being able to belt three octaves of scales has taken the place of soul in singing. Hit as many notes as possible to cover up how you're not thinking about what the song means. To Imelda May's credit, and the credit of the other ladies on the album, they don't slur their words as much as many young pop and R&B singers do these days.

Three, Meat: I don't think the vocal comes from one live show. I think this is several live takes edited together. Many of the lines end far too abruptly and sometimes segue awkwardly. Maybe part of that is autotune clipping the ends of phrases, but listening to this at home (it wasn't as apparent in the car) it sounds choppy to me. (Same thing with much of Who Needs The Young.)

Your mileage my vary.
