Funny, I'd say the same about "Stark". Well, not all the detailed things you pointed out. Just that it goes nowhere. The outro is awesome, with all of the great guitar solos, but what's the point? It just sounds like a really weak song. I can see why Meat hated it all these years.
I dunno, "Hero" just feels a lot more like that big TYPICAL Steinmanesque anthem. I think the chorus is explosive, I love the bridge with the "Up where the mountains meet the heavens above" (recycled from the NEVERLAND "All Revved Up" instrumental LOL and the second half of "Private Of Privates" :P I think it was played on the '82 Meat Loaf tour.)
