I would agree with you that the pair have discussed Jim's interests, and the result is this song to show for it. Even though Jim's credit does not exist on it, there is much that I find that could be as if there was. When Jim discusses his interests, I don't think he keeps to one or another of the fluid ideas that both "The Dream Engine" (1969) and later "Neverland" were to be. Like the man in the lyrics, so too does this set of projects grow. One might also possibly entertain the thought that Jim didn't want his name on this one, if one were so inclined. I hear this for "The Dream Engine" due to the fact that it is closer to the raw "America" concern of theme that was so reflective in that play. I also think that at that time, Jim's lyrics tended to be more raw, less polished, and more representative of the youth in anticipation of growth, than the man starting to come into his own.
