| What I love about Jim as a producer, is that he can do those phantaorgasmal (I think I made that word up) big epic over the top pieces, and then turn around and do the perfect lovely little pop-song. Take Celine Dion's Falling Into You for example. "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" and "River Deep Mountain High" are the big pieces with the Wall of What It Sounds Like Just Over the Top™ (well, you know what I mean), and then he does "Call The Man", which is just a fairly simple pop song. Or take "Anything for Love", "This Corrosion", "Tonight Is What It Means To Be Young", "Vittoria! (Aida 2002)", his Remix of "Never Forget" and most of Original Sin on the one hand, and then look at "I Will Crumble", "I Want To Spend My Lifetime Loving You", "Call the Man", "Try Not To Be Afraid" and Boyzone's "No Matter What" in the other. That, ladies and gentlemen, is what I am getting at. You have the nearly overproduced stuff, and the minimal poppy stuff. Greatness, I say. Greatness. > Obviously, we all love Jim as a songwriter, but I'm > curious to what you guys think of him as a producer. | |
