| Now you may be wondering why it wouldn't be ruining EVERYTHING you save as a jpeg in the same way, but if you have a heavily compressed jpeg, then take away the compression algorithm, ie save it as a PNG or TIFF, and then reapply the jpeg compression algorithm, the junk created by the jpeg algorithm is multiplied, because compression artefacts are added to compresseion artefacts, you know what I mean? So IDEALLY, once it's a jpeg, it should stay as a jpeg -- to avoid the problem you are experiencing when you resave the pngs to jpegs.
