Firstly, this is a decision to be reached by Jim, not by fans, however well-intentioned, taking his part.
Secondly, if one wants a lawsuit settled quickly one may take a strong and disagreeable position so as to accomplish that end. Inevitably it will be taken personally. It need not, however, be held as cause for vendetta.
No one called in an airstrike on an innocent village. There are hurt feelings, pride, and anger. There are, so far as I am aware, no charred bodies.
Keep it in perspective.
