It happens to a lot of people, Ryan. I've been getting phishing emails from a fake Paypal for months now that asks me to log into my account and confirm it with my credit card number. The links look official, but when you click on it the address it takes me too isn't the same address as in the url link. That and the fact that page asking for a credit card number as confirmation are huge red flags.
The new thing on Myspace is fake bulletins that have been popping up this past month which have been corrected by the site owner. Fake bulletins from people on friends list would tell their friends they were going to change accounts and to please add their new profile. Upon clicking the page to add the profile, a fake embedded "add" url would take the person to a fake login page that looks exactly like the official Mypsace login page. Upon entering their login email and password, the information would send to the author of the fake page, allowing the phisher to steal the person's account. Luckily, Tom (the owner of Myspace) deleted everyones past bulletins last night and is working to filter that crap out.
Usually, if you use a program like Thunderbird for email (which you can set up with gmail now) it will check out and let you know about suspicious links.
