| Oh god, don't base your opinion of Billy on 'Signs'. Aside from his last 2 release, 'To Tell The Truth' and Happy Blue', 'Signs' really was weak. This guy was on TOP of the rock world in '82/'83 with 'Don't Say No' and 'Emotions in Motions'--'Signs' (the material from it) had a lot to do with why people suddenly wondered why!! The fast, vast fall was sad and shocking. He never recovered from a series of career missteps. If 'Tale' is re-released, start there and then try DSN and Emotions. 'Signs' is fine for a benchmark listen and certainly from a Jim historical viewpoint, but please reserve judgement until you've heard some other, better, material that he's written. I forgot he'd written 'If you were a Woman'--yeah, that one's okay as well. I thnk he co-wrote 'Jessie James' for Cher with Diane Warren--I just LOVE that song--again, just alot of fun. And 'Livin la Viva' is a cute song that definately was well crafted for the commercial use it was intended for. I just have alot of respect for that kind of consistant talent. He gives really good interviews as well. Let me know what you think of Billy's stuff--Brian May just loved him, as did the rest of Queen--Billy opened for them on their '81 American tour and they were on his next lp; Brian was on 'Signs', the one after that. Brian was set to produce 'Tale', but had other committments. Queen set him up with Mack, their producer, to produce DSN and Emotions. Cheers!
