| Dear Jim, Happy Birthday. I always have felt since finding you and your music that it was a bit magical that you were born on this day, All Hallows Eve. For the ancient Celts, this day signified the beginning of a new year, the first day of winter, and the time when the veil between the human experience and the world of spirit is at it's thinnist. It can be no more fitting that a soul such as yours that has lived with such a passion and speaks so often of 'the dark night of the soul' in so many ways would be born on this day. I can remember finding your music through Tanz der Vampire and immediately bonding to it when it struck an emotional chord for me. It was like the vibration of the first note in a song of life, and it was with these thoughts that I recently read your latest lyrics in your blog. There are times when it is a bit hard for me to read the poetry that comes from you, for it can ring with some of the experiences that we can sometimes walk through ourselves. But even vampires can find their rest one day, and I was so struck with these lines towards the beginning of your new song..... "I will conjure up the magic Far beyond your sight I’ll illuminate this city With the ascension of the light" You end this work with: I fought for Paradise And Paradise lost. It wasn’t your fault or mine Wasn’t this it wasn’t that But Paradise lost In the final at bat Paradise lost In the last at bat. (DARK.) I think my first wish for you on this day is a rearrangement in the order of the song. :) May you have a day today filled with celebration, and with people in it and around you to reflect back to you not only how much there is to take joy in, but the love and depth that you have brought to your own human experience. Have the BEST of days. | |
