| Listen to stuff like "Hot Summer Night", "Love And Death And An American Guitar", "Nocturnal Pleasure", "Teenager In Love", "God Has Left The Building"... Meat doesn't even sound as distinctive as that. Jim's voice has never changed. He sounds like a serial killer and it's disturbing. "Left In The Dark" sounds like a horror movie, on record, and I get chills that I just don't get from anything on "Bat Out Of Hell" and "Dead Ringer". Jim was the real star, IMO. His voice didn't change the way Meat's did. Listen to it now, and it's like Caiaphas from JCS. Listen to Meat's voice on "Back Into Hell" and WTTN. THAT is nothing on Jim!!! IMO I didn't feel a thing! Jim should have been the singer and forgotten about Meat. He's ten times more scary and twisted. With Meat it feels like some actor was impersonating Jim's vision, awesome in itself, but when you took away the lights and the make-up, he had that normal Southern drawl. Steinman, from everything I've heard and know, is exactly like he is on the albums. He comes across as an embodiment of his songs. Meat seems a lot different to what he is on those songs. My 200 cents. | |
