| I am still in the UK, as the plan was to finish Meats UK tour with tonights Foreigner gig here in Cardiff. Walking Cardiffs streets today, I realized how much Meat-history was experienced in this city alone. Just to name a few: The glorious radio-broadcasted first European concert after the release of Bat II in 1993. Or the concert at the castle. And yes, a last minute cancellation too. Still being touched by having seen Pearls award speech this morning (BTW, any reaction by Jim, JD?) I remembered some special Jim-moments too, like him attending one of Meats gigs in Wembley, the opening of Dance in Vienna or the fascinating first performance of Body in New York. While walking Cardiff I therefore simply felt blessed with everything those two men brought to our lifes. Jims genius and Meats performance skills have enriched it not only with music, but with experiences, cities, nations and friends. I would not like to miss anything. And I had the pleasure of thanking both of them in person! If that was it, I feel fulfillement, not sorrow! But official word says there is even more to come! Jims Bat-musical would be a dream come true. And Meats vocal chords, despite being tired from touring right now, are still magic and capable of new journeys with or without Jim, as some concerts earlier this year and the great 3 Bats live DVD proove. (Myself even won´t stop dreaming of Jim and Meat agreeing to do Body) When it comes to the downsides like legal fights, cancellations, non-happening projects or individuals (i.e. Steve or Patti), us fans probably don`t have much of an idea what is going on. But I guess there is a reason why the words music (and) buisiness don`t really match. Of course those downsides include that recent night in Newcastle. But the most impressing experience there to me was seeing people cry on our way out, even at the back of the venue. That felt as a great compliment for Meat and everything SteinMeatmusic means to those people! Michael Back to regular life tomorrow, hopefully this does not include having to behave normal when it comes to spending money/holidays in the future. | |
