Ditto, I don't know any other people who see themselves as Jim Steinman fans outside this list, but when I tell people who he is they usually turn out to love his music. It's a pitty that so many people get obsessed with the people singing the songs rather than the people that actually wrote them: we live in a world where people can become famous just for being on big brother for goodness sake! - but that sort of fame never lasts because people have to keep constantly topping up their public image with tv appearances, interviews etc. and as soon as they stop doing that noone has any reason to remember them. Even singers start to lose their public image once their voice starts to go... look at poor old Meatloaf!

Songwriters like Jim don't have that problem because their fame is based on something much less transient; people will be releasing covers of Jim's songs for decades to come (not to mention new works as long as he keeps on writing -- please Jim, don't ever stop!) and in time I reckon his reputation will probably outlast that of a lot of the artists that have sung for him - that's my thoughts anyway.

Anyway, I'm happy to be a member of the cult of Jim. I've also been trying to indoctrinate my friend's 7 week old baby by singing tanz der vampire songs to her - is that brain washing? Maybe, but within any luck in 20 years time I'll have her going to see Steinman musicals with me!

*grin*
