Who'd Do The Dirty?

Been listening a lot to the 'studio' demo of 'Who'd Do The Dirty?' recently, with Andre De Shields (?) on vocals & Jim (?) on piano.

Have acquired a new appreciation of the very clever lyrics:

'But such a necessary evil, you gotta put your trust in me'

'I can flicker and flame, I can do as I dare, 'cause it's all just a game and I really don't care'

'Who'd do the dirty, dirty work that keeps the power alive?'

'Your friends want me elsewhere, get rid of me do, but when I'm not around, who's gonna do what I do?'

I can't find the article, but I'm sure I read on this site that this was written for Hook in Neverland, along with 'Who Needs The Young?'

It could also have worked for Joker in Batman?

However, it seems Barry Keating wrote the lyrics (?) for Rhinegold, where it doesn't seem to fit at all?

Anyone think it could work in the Bat musical?

BTW - The vocal and ad libs on this recording are bloody brilliant!
