| Lots of people have made comparisons between the music of Jim Steinman and Bruce Springsteen. Shared musicians, wall of sound, teen angst, etc. I still think it's a pretty silly comparison, but I just found out that apparently Springsteen likes Peter Pan, too. I was just listening to "Born to Run," and the girl's name in the song is Wendy. I thought maybe he chose that name randomly, but in this article, Jim Steinman says "Oh yeah, Peter Pan is the ultimate rock story, because it's about lost boys who never grow up. In fact, as I found out when we shared the same studio, Springsteen loves Peter Pan, too: In 'Born To Run' the girl's name is Wendy, which is no accident." When did they share a studio? I was also surprised to learn that Max and Roy do not appear on this song. They joined the band after the song was finished and appear on the rest of the album. Anyhow, I know that Jim's and Bruce's styles are pretty different, and I thought it was interesting that there's one little nugget of similarity. | |
