I read this once before, and I thought she was trying to say that Bruce was inspired by Jim to write Born to Run, instead of the other way around. (Mmmm, OK.....)
I read it again, and I do think she is trying to say that Jim (Who is this Jim Cypherd guy, anyway? Am I missing something?)DID write Born to Run.

Okey-dokey...I guess Bruce spent over a year in the studio agonizing over work that was not his own.

I think she's trying to say that the only reason Bruce gained any following is because of the hype, but that he "earned" the admiration over time.

Interesting.
