This month's Q magazine (Oct'09) has a (light-hearted) 10 page feature on 'Rock Nutter's'.
Jim is in the 'studio crackpots' section (along with Brian Wilson & Captain Beefheart):
Bombastic producer/writer for Meat Loaf albums. Idiosyncratic studio manner once had him asking an engineer to “make a guitar solo sound like a Harley-Davdison morphing into a gargoyle-like beast who’s mad at his parents”. A tireless perfectionist, he admitted to harbouring a perverse respect for serial killers because of their obsessive. Realised that he didn’t want to work with Def Leppard after singer Joe Elliott described Police Academy 3 as “brill”.
Phil Spector is in the 'Homicidal Lunatics' section (presumably promoted from 'studio crackpots' following recent events?).
