He is more established in the UK than any other country. It's amazing how much air time Meat can get in the UK. It doesn't matter how old he gets. It doesn't matter if projects like TMIL are flops. He can always get publicity here. Of course, as you say, Jim is far more wittier and intelligent. The interview with both Meat and Jim which is included in the "Bat out Of Hell Live In Germany 1978" DVD is proof of that. Unfortunately the interviewer was goofy and didn't really understand what either of them were saying but Jim was clearly much better at giving an interview. Jim would make a much better judge than Meat. Perhaps they hired Meat as a judge on this show because he is famous for singing the "Wagnerian Rock" that Jim invented. Therefore he somehow crosses the division between rock and opera. However, it is really Jim who crosses that division and he has proved that with artists other than Meat (as you know). The trouble is that Jim doesn't do PR and publicity in the UK like Meat does. I am hoping that "BOOH The Musical" will give him a chance to change that situation. > BTW - WTF is Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen doing on the show? But, as you say, he is about as much use as a "chocolate fireguard" (ha ha. LOL). When he does surprise interior designs for people, they often look slightly upset with what he has done. | |
