I doubt that is true. Most of Tom Jones' fans, certainly the younger ones really like what Tom Jones has been doing in the last ten years. Yes he has re-invented himself but what else do you want him to do?
a.) Keep on singing "It's not unusual" This would be the same as for Meat Loaf singing "Bat" and never release anything new. That doesn't get you anywhere even if the new stuff isn't just as good.
b.) Both Meat and Tom Jones keel over and die or alternatively retire?

Not sure Meat needs the money or not but from what I've heard the rest of the album is better and this is just a bit of a fun song.
Fair enough you think it's shit and I can appreciate that but most artists have moved on and they try to integrate more modern sounding influences/lyrics in their music. Even Steinman did this with Boyzone and I hated the result but it got to number 1.
