| Thanks! My thoughts after one play? Jeez, I don't know. I think I mostly like it. Yes, it is VERY Springsteeny. I mean, it sounds like the writer had the Born to Run liner notes (and sheet music?) open in front of him while composing. But I can't say that's an automatic bad thing if one is just trying to right a fun, dramatic, adventure song. I also thought I heard some other familiar music in there that I can't quite place - maybe The Killers, from when they were trying to sound like Springsteen? As for The Voice. I was back and forth on it throughout. Soemtimes it seemed bad, then good. But even when leaning bad, Meat seems to have brought something a tad different to his delivery here - a little less Opera Man and a little more tortured poet desperation, perhaps? A little growly here and there... I liked that aspect. The production could have been amped up, a little more energetic anger in the music. It feels too relaxed for the lyrics and vocals and subject matter. There were times the production style reminded me of something in between Dead Ringer and MatLaF, actually, but maybe I was hearing things. Overall, I dig it and shall go listen again.
