| The thread below got me thinking... Are there any fans of the German band Everon here? I'm sure a lot of Stein-fans would enjoy their stuff. It's prog rock, but with emphasis on melody and emotion rather than technicality. Think Steinman meets Rush having a bar fight with Dream Theater while Marillion plays in the background. Really theatrical, over the top, heartfelt stuff as long as you don't mind the odd crunchy heavy bit and Oliver Phillip's vocals - which remind me of Fish (i.e. a bit of an acquired taste). Personally, I love his voice, the piano playing is wonderful, and his guitar solos are right up their with the Neal Schons and Dave Gilmours of this world! They're a close second to Steinman in my book. Check out www.everon.de for soundbites. I highly recommend starting with Bridge, Flesh, and North (all breathtaking albums). Fantasma and Venus are also very good. The first two albums (Paradoxes and Flood) aren't as good, but interesting for Everon completists.
