Back in my less knowledgeable youth I thought this was a Steinman song.
One of the things I love about Steinsongs is that they sound like nothing else out there, having said that here are 3 of the top of my head:
Thunder Road - Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band (obvious choice)
Accidental Babies - Damien Rice (reminds me of a stripped down version of Left In The Dark - think someone else mentioned this years back, think it was Vin, possibly Justin)
Lullaby - tragichippy (okay cheating, but this near 10 minute piano-led ballad about child abuse and the cycle of violence is the only Steinmanesque song I've ever written(well there are a coupla others, but they're like bastard children of Jim and Nick Cave) and I can't think of an actual 3rd one right now, so that'll do...
