I dont think thats awful at all, actually sounds like Jim could have wrote it. :)
My one "Improvement" that I've made to Steinman song is towards the end of Paradise, when the guy is singing about he will never a break his vow. Instead of "But god only knows what I can do right now" I sing "but god only knows that I COULD do it right now"> This stems from my mishearing of the lyrics when I was younger and its always stuck since then I guess. I once even re wrote Paradise with completely new lyrics and even replaced the Baseball sports cast with one from a football game.
