I disagree. Sure there is incredible enhancement going on (Rob Cavello can make the Green Day boys sound like great singers I know) but there still needs to be an element of good singing for it to sound THAT good. And even so, if it's all pasted together, does it mean you can't possibly enjoy the music? Do you need to know the exact conditions of the recording process for you to enjoy the music? Ie. does it all need to be tracked in one take? Even the original Two out of three was recorded in at least several takes going by the vocal only track ripped from the Super Audio disc (you can hear clicks, fade ins, different backing tracks bleeding through the headphones etc).
If Jim could use Meat's voice with the pasted together approach to get the vocals sound as good as on HCTB or Bat 3 on his songs and with HIS production wouldn't that still be better than handing these over to a bunch of unknowns?
