Isn't it a pity though? I would really embrace it. I thought he was terrific in those films. His performance was mesmerizing.

Then he succeeded. It was the same with Margaret Hamilton who was the Wicked Witch of the West, as you probably know. People were afraid of her, little children, and little children who had grown into adults and introduced the film to their children. They were still afraid of her. But when they actually spoke to her, they were a little surprised to discover how nice she really was.

I think that's terrific. It's the ultimate reward for an actor, moreso than any Oscar. That you've affected the audience that way...
