I haven't written anything here in a long time. I thought that listing some of my other favourites could be a good way to introduce me again.
Laibach.
The Slovenian industrial band. They have made many kinds of music from noise to techno to bombastic soundtracks. At the moment they are best known for the song "Tanz mit Laibach" and the soundtrack to the movie Iron Sky.
David Bowie.
The Space Oddity. Especially the albums made with Brian Eno. Low. Heroes. Lodger. And most of all 1.Outside.
Richard Wagner.
I love listening to live recordings of his operas, such as the ones made at the Bayreuth Festival in the 1950's (such as Tristan und Isolde conducted by Herbert von Karajan). However, my favorite opera is Tannhäuser. There aren't really great releases of live recordings of it.
Queen.
Queen II is still one of the craziest and most over-the-top albums ever made. But unlike many albums like this, Queen II has amazing melodies and harmonies.
The Beach Boys.
Perfect melodies and harmonies. From the 60's my favorite album is the crazy and underproduced Smiley Smile. From the early 70's Sunflower is another masterpiece.
Nico.
Best known for the three songs on the first album of the Velvet Underground. It's a great album but her solo albums are even more amazing.
Giacomo Puccini.
Apart from Tannhäuser, Il Trittico is my favorite opera.
Valensia.
A Dutch singer who is influenced by Queen and Kate Bush. He had one hit but never had the big breakthrough though he's made several great albums.
Serge Gainsbourg.
Best known for the erotic hit song "Je t'aime... moi non plus" and for writing France Gall's Eurovision song contest winner "Poupée de cire, poupée de son". He wrote about 1000 songs and made many kinds of music from jazz to progressive rock to rap.
