| Well, I've watched the clips of Meat and Jim's speeches several times now and the feeling I get is pretty emotional and poignant. I think Marvin's speech was heartfelt and very sincere. I have always respected him for giving Jim credit in interviews when it comes to Jim's brilliance and "I can never repay him" is such an honest comment that you can feel it comes straight from the man's heart. His candour took me by suprise, I must say...very emotional. It's been so long since seeing Jim doing any interviews or speaking that any footage of him nowadays is always more than welcomed. His wit and humor is still intact and sharp as ever. "And because of the length of my songs..." makes the room erupt in laughter and "cause I feel eventually my gravestone will be heavily edited just like the songs tonight" is the funniest remark I've heard this year. If laughter lengthens one's lifetime then Jim just added a couple of minutes to mine. Thanks Jim! I always enjoy Jim speaking so I could have listened to a longer speech but this was still classic Steinman (in "radio edit form"): witty and entertaining. Congratulations once again to the greatest songwriter ever! | |
