I would have been surprised to learn of an actually "live" performance attempted on such a show as this. There was a time when I expected all performances to be live, and then that grew into an expectation all performances would be lipped. Nobody really likes to be without the assurance (sponsors included) that the music wouldn't sound their best, full production included. I don't equate DWTS with American Idol which is designed as a talent exhibition. I don't really watch either one, though.
