When an actor is given a script he doesn't just read it, he "interprets" it. He accomodates the part to his abilities which is where the performance comes from. I believe Meat has listened to the earlier versions and reflected on what works or not. In that case, he probably thinks "God speed" is weak etc. Still, I think he should still be a little more faithful to the song as written. At least Jim's because Jim is equally as theatrical and knows what he's doing with the scene. Meat's other writers seem like they're writing a simple song where Meat has to search for the character. In Jim's songs that character is almost always already there | |
