Jim said on this forum that "Spring Awakening" took eight years to reach Broadway. I'm not surprised. I'm not really sure if I can use this as an example but the musical "Grand Hotel" started off as "At the Grand" with songs by the songwriting team behind "Kismet" and "Song of Norway", but it didn't make it to Broadway, and about thirty to forty years later it finally did with Maury Yeston ("Nine", "Phantom", "Titanic", "Death takes a holiday") brought in to provide additional songs. Also, I myself, worked (and I continue to do so) on a project that took ten years to reach the stage, more or less, but seven of those years resulting in about a handful of songs and ideas that I deemed worthy, all that experience, all that hard yakka, and there was a lot I threw out, and then we spent three solid years writing and pushing the show that got done in 2011 and that felt like a beginning! > > It was announced how long ago??
