| Well, I didn't want to discourage anyone at the time because there was so much love and enthusiasm, and it was an oasis in a desert so it'd be foolish to disturb the ecosystem... but my first reaction, just from the album's previews was.... to create the most enormous playlist of karaoke versions of Steinman-composed songs on Spotify. I think... I just wished that there was a version of the album without the Meat Loaf. (well, maybe it's that. To be quite honest, I don't like Tyce Green much either. He bleats like a billy goat and I just don't feel like his soul aligns with these songs like it has for other vocalists. So that could be a factor...) I saw a clip of an interview with Meat on the BBC website the other day, he was saying that he's having incredible back pain right now... but he hardly even sounded like himself, just in speaking. I felt so bad for the poor broken fellow. It's like he's aged 20 years in the past 10. My copy of the album is probably downstairs in my letterbox. Quite unusual of Amazon not to provide me with a free MP3 version of the CD; they have for all the others I've bought from them recently. I'm in no hurry to pick it up and give it a listen. Right now, I feel at peace with the album, and I fear that doing something crazy like listening to it might change that balance. But I do kind of want to hear the full version of "Going all the way"... | |
