| OK, it's nearly 2 in the morning here in the UK, so I thought I'd start a little late night debate before I finally get my head down for the night. This is just a frivolous little post, so make of it what you will - it'll drop off the board in a week or so ;-) What would be your dream Jim Steinman project? If Jim was to release an album or open a stageshow/film or whatever tomorrow - what would you most like it to be? To make it a bit more interesting, it can't be something that Jim has worked on in the past (so no Neverland/Batman/Dream Engine etc) it has to be a totally new project that you would love to see having the Steinman treatment. To get the ball rolling, I'd be fascinated if Jim started a boyband - a proper boyband, an alternative to Westlife, Boyzone etc. I'd like an album of entirely new songs, with Jim's vision, possibly produced by him or at the very least personally sanctioned, full of 3 & 4 minute pop songs - mini pop operas if you like (think Phil Spector or the Shangri-La's if they were men! LOL), and I'd like the whole thing to be recorded with REAL instruments, possibly even a live band. I'd love to know how Jim would respond to the discipline of writing 12-15 songs that wouldn't have to be edited for single release and that would have to compete for the 'traditional' boyband market. I could see a very edgy take on modern 'pop' music, maybe even a few short spoken word pieces to knit the album together and a band for pubescent teenage girls to listen to that for once their parents might NOT approve of. I think it could be awesome. Well, I did say it was late... Anyone care to contribute to the madness? | |
