When I was a kid I was an enormous baseball fan, and I don't know which came first the bobble heads or the game interest, but I received an unusual shipment of baseball team bobble head dolls (my mother couldn't really believe they were for me, so she first gave them to my brother, and eventually the intention was made clear that they were mine). One bobble head doll for every team in both leagues, dressed in the uniform of the team of course, made of whatever they made such things from at the time. From this set, I learned all the names of the teams, and I also learned something then about the New York Yankees. I also learned a little bit about the Pittsburgh Pirates. I loved Roger Maris, Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio, and all of those greats. I went to games when I could which wasn't much, and I found that the games were exciting because all of these heros were playing right before my eyes, and they made interesting plays. But, there were times when I couldn't stand it, and I think many fans think of it this way, when neither team can get a hit and there is strike after strike, ball after ball, out after out, and nobody gets to run anywhere, no fielders get to follow and catch a ball, and no challenge to make a player out or safe, or advance the bases to home. When there is movement in baseball, there is no more clearly understandable or fun game to watch, because it is not a contact sport. There is no particular physical recovery required between plays. It just moves, and moves fast.
But I think I've caught myself bored at some games. Some games are really uninteresting.
