| I agree. I've always thought Meat was the greatest "voice" of Steinman. I saw Meat live a few years back, and realized at that point that Meat might still be the best "studio voice" but did it on fumes on tour. It was a great way to recall what once was, but I wouldn't send a new fan to a Meat concert without strong warnings about what to expect. Regarding Jim's voice, I think it was perfect for "Left in the Dark" as that is a song about raw emotion and pain. That is the only song I think was perfect for him. Barbara's makes me wince in pain, and Meat's was just adequate. Meat's Frying Pan I think is the definitive version and should have been the second track released from Bat II. There are many great Steinsongs that were hits, but nothing by anyone will ever be close to Bat. It is STILL the "album" I play more often than all the other's I have combined. I can't imagine ever tiring of it. This week it finally got cold here in FL, and I've been blasting it with the windows rolled down. | |
