If you read Jim's comments about the NYC 'reading' he says it's the greatest thing he's ever written, which suggests to me that it is (in the main) something completely new? > How? The way I see it is all the citizens of Gotham are locking down their shops & buildings and heading out into the night to make their way home. Batman is observing from high above and sees the fear in their faces, and realises he alone cannot protect them.
