A few interesting points... Born to Run was produced using the Phil Spector wall of sound. Spector is Steinman's hero. Makes sense that Steinman listened to BTR for if nothing, then just for the hell of it. Max Weinberg and Roy Bittan played on most of BTR and also on BAT as well as BFG. As the liner notes indicate, courtesy of the E street band. On a more interesting note is that Jimmy Iovine engineered BTR and then went on to produce Rock and Roll Dreams with Jim and also the basic tracks for DEADRINGER. Jimmy Iovine also engineered and mixed DARKNESS ON THE EDGE OF TOWN. I'll go one step farther and say that Jim was so influenced by BTR that he began working with the engineer that worked on that to get the sound and also maybe DEADRINGER, that was supposed to be completely different from a BAT albumn, might in all reality be more akin to DARKNESS ON THE EDGE OF TOWN. What I'm saying is that BTR was copied or was a very heavy influence on BAT and BFG and I believe the same can be said for DOTEOT being the same for DR. Two last points, Jim had leaned heavily on Roy Bittan for most of the 80's. Roy is credited by Bruce Springsteen as being the professor. Wonder what he taught Jim. Last point, Jim recycles everything.
