If they're a prescribed medication you shouldn't just stop taking them. Especially anti-depressants, which work by building up in your body, then your GP will have to manage your withdrawal by prescribing you a lower dosage, recommend you take one every other day, etc. If you've just been given a new prescription then it's not the time to be thinking about coming off them. I've been on my anti-depressants for about 3 years and as far as I know they don't have any long term effects and I'm just about to start on a lower dosage. Pudding is right though, when he says that they don't address the cause of the depression, they only try to minimise the symptoms. Oh and loss of libido is a side-effect of both the depression and the medication.
