| This is simply MY OWN experience, and shouldn't in any way be taken as advice, just a fact of the result of quitting ADs cold turkey. I took myself off three separate ADs cold turkey. The withdrawal were not fun- migraines, nausea, dizziness, and a really, really bad temper, but I was through it in a few days (that could be because I have a fast metabolism) and felt better. The worst one to come off of was Prozac, which studies now say shouldn't have ever been given to me in the first place, but Zoloft was no fun either. There were times I thought my head was going to explode, and times I thought that I was going to go more crazy than anyone thought I was already. To qualify why I did this- I was not the one who asked for them- my parents wanted a "quick fix" and my GP prescribed them. The minute they stopped watching me every second, I started flushing them, because I hated the way I felt on them and they were making what was the typical hormonal and social upheavals of adolesence worse. I have never been on them as an adult, and although I think they work wonders for some people, they are not right for everyone. I won't advise you to stop taking your meds. I will say, take a few days and do some serious soul-searching and research, and talk to your doctor openly and honestly about trying alternative treatments. There have been some wonderful advancements with things like dietary changes, exercise regimes, and sun lamp therapy that can help some forms of depression. It may be as simply as making some lifestyle changes, or as complex as finding the right set of medications, alternative treatments, and lifestyle decisions that works for your particular case. Good luck, and good health. > I started taking them in August of last year and now I've > been prescribed them for 2 more months. I tried to come > off them myself by not taking them for a day.
