| Unfortunately, The Mirror wasn't very kind about poor old Meat today. I think that they are being unfair. They had a big headline saying: "PRAT OUT OF HELL" with a picture that makes him look older than he is. The article/review said: "It should be Pop Star to Opera Star. But mangling the language was nowhere near the biggest mistake of ITV's illiterately named "Popstar To Operastar". That would be madman Meatloaf, a raving lunatic who makes Stephen Baldwin look sane. Jumping up and down like a judge out of Hell, the giant singer screamed meaningless nonsense at the top of his considerable voice. After first-night reject Alex James' tonedeaf performance, Mr Loaf roared: "That was like two women kissing in a subway." What? Desperately trying to tame the beast, horticultural host Alan Tichmarsh kept pleading: "Breifly, please Meat." Meat ignored him. But an enjoyable show, in a shambolic cheapo sort of way. Live car-crash telly. Who will win? Who cares?" | |
