I really loved "Holding Out for a Hero" when I was a kid (I was 13 when it came out) but I didn't know anything about Steinman.
When I saw "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" I started tracking down albums by the cast...well, Little Nell and "Kimi & Ritz" discs are nearly impossible to find, but they were still stocking Meat Loaf and Tim Curry vinyl in the mid-80s.
So I got Tim Curry's "Fearless" and Meat Loaf's "Hits Out of Hell." I have to say I didn't know what to make of Meat Loaf, but I adored "Paradise" right out of the gate. From then, it was only a matter of time before Steinman's unique style wormed its way into my head and heart. Then I chanced across a vinyl copy (with 45 AND poster!) of "Bad for Good." Then I looked closely at the liner notes for Bonnie Tyler and Sisters of Mercy and the scales fell from my eyes.
So, here I am all these years later!
