TEOTH - The Most Popular Song In Britsh Advertising History

Even if Jim has sold the rights to TEOTH, doesn't he have to give permision for the lyrics to be changed? I've seen the commercial broadcast several times now and I am glad that it brings Bonnie back to people's attention but surely they could have hired a better lyricist to change Jim's words. Like the line: "1/2 an hour ago you were buying some stuff, now you're walking back to your car."
If only the lyrics were a bit better, this could have been a fantastic tribute to the Lord Of Excess. I love the guitarist who shoots up into the air for the solo but I don't understand how Bonnie could have agreed to sing "turn around Melville" and "we're thanking you straight from the heart." At least she looked great as the angel in the sky.

On a positive note, TEOTH must be the most popular song in British advertising history. They used it for Playstation's karaoke game, the drumming gorilla in the Cadbury's chocolate ad, the ad for T-Mobile where thousands of people are singing it in Trafalgar Square and I believe there was yet another one that escapes my mind at the moment.

How many other Jim songs have been used in Britsh advertising? One of the best must be the Charaties Commision's ad where the guy leaves a will stating that his Harley Davidson has to be on top of his coffin and an organ version of Bat Out Of Hell has to be playing as the coffin is carried in.
