| I somehow doubt it's anywhere close to being the most popular song in British advertising history. There are many songs that have been used in more than 4 adverts. Songs like "Help" and "Pretty Woman" lend themselves very well to advertising and I can recall numerous occasions they've been used. To answer your second question, "Holding Out For a Hero" was used to advertise an aftershave in the 80s.
