You and I both know that when you love someone you don't forget the way she's feeling. You are attentive to those feelings and you try to continue to make her feel good. However the song is from the man to the woman; and these are the things that a woman wants (in some cases needs) to be told often by her man. To the male way of thinking it's a no-brainer. To her, if you don't say something however obvious it may seem, then it isn't apparent that's how your feeling. It's a very detailed, grammatical jungle of the phrase "I love you."
When I analyse things like this I find it harder and harder to believe Jim when he says he hasn't been in these situations. He hits the nail on the head so well so many times.
