| Vin, I once played around with melodyne and auto-tune and, while they can shift pitch, they don't really improve the quality of tone or the timbre or texture of an instrument or voice. If overused, they make it worse. It could be that whoever worked with Meat in the studio got a great performance out of him. The live recordings of the Green Day guy certainly aren't as good as the studio recordings. I've always thought that psychology might factor significantly into Meat's vocal performance and his comfort level with the people involved in recording with him might influence that. Also, I think that Meat's kind of bluesy gospel vocal mode is his more comfortable mode of performing.
