Well compared to Bat III, which was so obviously 'comped' (as he says in a recent interview) as to not sound human, I think that HCTB is the result of him genuinely singing better and Cavallo (or engineer) being better with the software than Child (or engineer) BUT not having to use it as a fix as much.
I assume here that 'comped' means Protools or Autotune or some variant of these...
