| From Meat Loaf's Wikipedia Page: "In 1980, Meat Loaf started working on Dead Ringer. Jim Steinman wrote all of the songs, but had little else to do with the album. The tour they planned, to support the album, was cancelled after one show, because they ran out of the money that the studio advanced them. David Sonenberg also convinced CBS to advance more money for the making of the movie Dead Ringer, which was shown at the Toronto Film Festival and won some favorable reviews, but was poorly considered after Sonenberg re-edited the movie." I wonder why the Dead Ringer tour only had one date. Is this true? This is the tour that Ted Neeley says he loved being a backup singer on. But there was only one gig? No wonder Karla decided not to take part. She must have known that something fishy was going on. What a shame that they don't release one of the two versions of the Dead Ringer movie on DVD. I am guessing that Jim and Ted Neeley will be in there somewhere. I saw this Dead Ringer information on Wikipedia when I was looking at Meat's Wikipedia page to check that the movie "Roadie" (which starred Meat) was in fact called that. It was after a board discussion about really awful movies and I think most people would agree that "Roadie" was really awful. I have argued on the board that a really awful movie is better than a mediocre movie. It's a shame that Meat wasn't offered parts in great movies because he is a very talented actor. I think Jim has said that. He was wonderful in that episode of "House". Why did he make a stinker like "Roadie"? He had just sold 45 million albums. Surely he could have done better for himself. | |
