| There is something (not sure if it only works here in NY state) but someone was telling me about "Poor Man's Copyright". How it works is that you certified mail a copy of your sheet music, book, poem, etc to yourself and then when you sign for it, do not open it. This is proof that you had this in your possession at a certain time. Then if you find that someone has copied or stolen your work, take them to court and have the lawyer present the unopened package to the judge. Explain to him the circumstances surrounding the package and the judge will open it. If it hasnt been altered or tampered, then when the judge opens it and finds the lyrics, music, whatever it is to be identical to the "plagarism" in question, he will have to award the case to you as you've shown verified, dated, Government approved proof that you did create something at a certain time. I'll give an example Suppose I write a book in 2004 and go through the mailing steps. I then send it to a publisher in 2005 to try and get it published. In 2005 they release the book but with out credit to me. I take them to court and give the judge the package. He opens it, compares my copy to the copy the publisher put out and if the two are similar enough, he declares that I own the rights to the book that was "stolen" and thus the publisher has to pay me. I have a teacher who's son is a professional writer and he says that he has used this method many times and that it actually works. Its pretty cheap thus the name "Poor Man's copyright" I hope this has been of some help Wrestlestein ---- Dont Dream it, Be it ---- > Wow!
